Project Overview:

Sanatana.wiki is a digital initiative to preserve and share the vast body of Sanatana Dharma (eternal truth) — including scriptures, philosophies, traditions, and lineages — in one accessible and structured platform. The aim was to create a living knowledge base that supports scholars, seekers, students, and spiritual communities worldwide.

We were tasked with designing and developing a clean, well-structured, and spiritually sensitive wiki-style platform that balances usability with reverence, while enabling ongoing content growth.

Objectives:

• Build a platform to host hundreds of interlinked articles across Vedic and Dharmic topics
• Design a system that supports both deep academic research and casual exploration
• Ensure a balance of aesthetic simplicity and structural scalability
• Create a backend system that allows collaborative contribution and editing

Design & UX Approach:

• Wiki-Clean Interface: We used a clean, distraction-free layout, prioritising text readability, semantic hierarchy, and intuitive navigation
• Scripture-Friendly Design: Typography was optimised for transliterations, Sanskrit terms, and long-form philosophical content
• Search-First Navigation: Smart search and category filtering were implemented for ease of access across a vast range of topics
• Culturally Aligned Visuals: Colour tones and layout were kept subtle to maintain a contemplative, non-commercial feel

Development Highlights:

• Built on a custom wiki-style CMS, designed for performance and editorial control
• Created category-based and cross-linked architecture for seamless article relationships
• Integrated SEO optimisation for discoverability of niche spiritual content
• Optimised for speed, accessibility, and multilingual support in future phases
• Included user-friendly backend tools to support content creation by scholars and contributors
